World Hepatitis Day: Over 2,800 cases reported in the Republic of Moldova in 2023
Last year, in the Republic of Moldova, 2807 cases of viral hepatitis were registered, including 55 acute forms and over 2700 in chronic forms. 99.3 percent come from viral hepatitis B, C and D, 0.1% each – viral hepatitis A and E. The data are presented by the National Public Health Agency (ANSP) in the context of World Hepatitis Day, which is marked today, July 28.
According to specialists, viral hepatitis is one of the communicable diseases for which deaths are increasing.
According to the WHO, morbidity due to viral hepatitis increased from 1.1 million in 2019 to 1.3 million in 2022. The figure is similar to the number of deaths caused by tuberculosis.
