The Republic of Moldova recalls six diplomats

Five ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova and the consul general of our country in the Italian city of Milan were recalled from their positions. The decision was taken during the Government meeting on July 30. The recall decrees are to be submitted to President Maia Sandu.

Thus, the consul general of the Republic of Moldova in the city of Milan, Oleg Nica, the ambassador of our country in Austria, Mihaela Mocanu, the ambassador Adrian Roșa from Latvia, the ambassador Ion Stăvilă from Estonia, Alexandru Codreanu, ambassador to the Czech Republic and Anatolie Urecheanu, ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Italy were recalled from office.

Also, Chisinau Government approved the candidacies for the positions of ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova in Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, Latvia, Estonia and the United Arab Emirates.

Thus, Oleg Nica will be the head of the diplomatic mission in Rome, Gabriela Moraru will represent our country in Prague, Victoria Roșa - in Vienna, Mihaela Mocanu - in Riga, Eugen Caras - in Tallinn, and Anatolie Vangheli - in Abu Dhabi.

We remind that the six approved ambassadors will start their work only after passing all legal procedures, including appointment by government decision and presidential decree.

Oleg Nica is a diplomat with 20 years of experience in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has a degree in Law. Starting from 2004, he held various positions within the Directorate of Consular Affairs, headed the Department of Institutional Management of the Ministry and served as acting Secretary General. He worked at the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Portuguese Republic and the Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Padua. Currently, he is completing his mandate at the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Milan.

Gabriela Moraru has 27 years of experience in the diplomatic service and international relations. She headed the State Diplomatic Protocol and the cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. She was Ambassador in Israel and she worked in diplomatic missions in Hungary, Poland and Estonia. She is currently the head of the Directorate for Bilateral Cooperation within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Victoria Roșa comes from the academic environment. Her areas of expertise are international relations, European affairs, security and defence. She was adviser in the field of security in the office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, and previously - executive director of the Association for Foreign Policy. She provided expertise in projects of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, Institute for War and Peace Reporting, UN Women Moldova, etc. She also graduated from the Marshall Memorial Fellowship program, offered by The German Marshall Fund in the US.

Mihaela Mocanu is a career diplomat with over 18 years of experience in the diplomatic service. She held several executive and management positions within the bilateral and multilateral cooperation departments. She worked in the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova in Berlin and Bucharest. Currently,she works as an ambassador in the Republic of Austria, as well as a Resident Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the OSCE, the UN office in Vienna, and by extension, in the Slovak Republic.

Eugen Caras is a diplomat, with the diplomatic rank of ambassador. For more than 29 years, he has been active in the ministry and diplomatic missions. He worked in the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova in Ankara, Brussels, Kiev and Washington. Between January 2012 and December 2019, he was Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union, and between 2020 and 2022 - Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States of America. He is currently head of the Directorate for cooperation with the EU.

Anatolie Vangheli is a career diplomat with over 27 years of experience. He holds the diplomatic rank of ambassador and he was the head of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova in the Hellenic Republic, Cyprus and the State of Israel. Previously, he held the position of secretary general of the ministry, other leadership and executive positions focused on political analysis, international economic relations, international security and bilateral collaboration. He was active within the OSCE in Kosovo and Georgia.
