The Russian military has carried out one of the most massive drone attacks on Ukraine since the beginning of the war. The main target of the attack was the city of Kiev. According to the military administration of Kiev, the Russians have sent dozens of drones towards the Ukrainian capital. It was the seventh drone attack on Kiev since early July and the most massive attack launched by the Russians against the capital this year.
According to the head of the Kyiv military administration, Serhiy Popko, Russian drones entered Kyiv in waves and from almost every possible direction. More than 30 drones were destroyed by air defense forces and means in the airspace of Kyiv and in the suburbs.
The Kyiv administration informs that, according to reports available at 06:18, the attack did not result in casualties or damage.
Although there was no reaction from Russian officials, Russian state news agencies reported that the attacks targeted airports and military depots in Ukraine. Reuters could not independently check the Russian reports.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Kliciko said on Telegram that the attack on the city came from several directions.
Reuters witnesses reported hearing explosions several times overnight in what appeared to be air defense systems engaged in repelling an air attack.
