Perinatal Center in Ungheni receives modern equipment worth 4 million lei

The Perinatal Center within the Ungheni District Hospital was recently equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, worth over 4 million lei. The new medical equipment was purchased and was donated by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with financial support of Great Britain. This donation is part of a wider humanitarian response to improve sexual and reproductive health for refugees and the local population.

In the last two years, UNFPA, together with other partners, supported the Ministry of Health in strengthening the National Perinatal Health Service in the Republic of Moldova.

This support included equipping 12 perinatal centers with modern equipment, providing equipment and supplies for blood banks in emergency obstetric care units, delivering 29 ambulances, developing coordination mechanisms between perinatal centers and training medical staff in emergency management obstetrics. These interventions are essential for improving the quality of perinatal care in the Republic of Moldova.
