Tragic case on the banks of the Nistru. A man from Soroca died
A tragic case happened on Wednesday evening in Soroca district. A man was found drowned in the waters of the Nistru River. The incident was reported at 19:50 when a patrol of the Soroca Border Service observed a person on the bank of the river, who stated that he had just called the emergency number 112.
The witness, who pulled the lifeless body of the victim out of the water and tried to offer him first aid, was the one who alerted the authorities, the Border Police announced. Unfortunately, all resuscitation efforts were in vain, the man could no longer be saved.
From the first investigations carried out by the crew of the Soroca Police Inspectorate, it was established that the victim is a 55-year-old Moldovan citizen, originally from Soroca.
The authorities call on citizens to be extremely cautious near water bodies and to follow the recommendations of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU): • Follow the warning signs and recommendations of the authorities; • Avoid swimming in unsupervised places; • Do not consume alcohol before or during swimming; • In case of an emergency, immediately call 112; • This tragedy highlights the importance of following safety rules to prevent such dramatic incidents.
