Alarming increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Republic of Moldova. The recommendations of the Ministry of Health
The number of COVID-19 cases increased about twice between August 5-11, compared to the previous week. According to the Ministry of Health, during the reference period, 1381 cases of COVID-19 were registered, of which 115 cases were in the Transnistrian region.
In this context, the Ministry of Health recommends wearing masks in medical institutions and contacting the family doctor when the first symptoms of the COVID-19 infection appear (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, muscle pain). Also, the ministry mentions that vaccination against COVID-19 is the most effective way to avoid serious cases of illness and death.
According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), the trend of increasing cases of COVID-19 is observed in several countries. Thus, between July 22-28, an increase of 5,339 cases of COVID‒19 was registered in the European region compared to the previous week.
In Romania, according the National Institute of Health, between August 5-11, 5,414 new cases of COVID-19 were registered, an increase of 0.8% compared to the previous week.
