Yellow heatwave warning issued: Stay safe during extreme heat

The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has issued a Yellow Heatwave Warning, valid until August 16, due to anticipated extreme temperatures across the country.

Meteorologists expect air temperatures to fluctuate between 33 and 36 degrees Celsius from August 15 to 16.

In response, authorities have issued public health recommendations to mitigate the risks associated with the heatwave. These recommendations include avoiding prolonged sun exposure during peak hours, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids, and wearing lightweight, light-coloured clothing. Additionally, the public is advised to refrain from strenuous physical activities and to ensure proper ventilation within their homes to maintain a safer indoor environment during the heatwave.

These guidelines are crucial for protecting public health during this period of intense heat. The information provided is intended to raise awareness and encourage preventive measures, aiming to reduce the adverse effects of the extreme weather conditions on the population.
