Moldova invests in social workers and job seekers

Seven vehicles valued at 2.6 million lei were donated to the Territorial Social Assistance Structures in Orhei, Rezina, Șoldănești, and Telenești.

This initiative also aims to expand mobile teams within the Territorial Employment Offices in these districts.

These vehicles will enable social workers to provide services to a wider range of citizens across the region, particularly those residing in remote and hard-to-reach communities.

Silvia Tocari, Deputy Director of the Center-East Territorial Social Assistance Agency, expressed her belief that this donation will significantly improve the quality of life for residents in Orhei, Rezina, Șoldănești, and Telenești.

Raisa Dogaru, Director of the National Employment Agency, emphasised the importance of well-equipped institutions in achieving set objectives. She highlighted that the mobile teams will be a valuable asset, enabling them to reach out to citizens in outlying villages and communes who are unemployed or lack sufficient labour market information. These teams will play a crucial role in providing them with essential career guidance and resources.

According to Alexei Buzu, Minister of Labor and Social Protection, one of the key goals is to expand the Mobile Team Service to encompass the entire country by the end of the year. This service will prioritise assisting individuals with severe disabilities.

The Minister further stated that investments in frontline personnel are paramount to the success of ongoing reforms, particularly the RESTART reform. He explained that social workers, employment specialists, and others who directly assist citizens in finding employment, including men, women, youth, people with disabilities, and refugees, will all benefit from new vehicles. This enhanced mobility will allow them to deliver services more efficiently.

The donation was made possible by GIZ Moldova, with financial support from the Federal German Ministry for Cooperation. Verena Zell, Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy in Chișinău, remarked that this contribution will strengthen public services in Moldova.

Ms. Zell elaborated on Germany's longstanding commitment to supporting Moldova's development and cooperation programs for the past 30 years. She emphasised Germany's unwavering support for Moldova as it prepares for European Union membership.
