Bulgaria officially adopts euro: Law passed
Bulgaria has officially enacted legislation paving the way for the adoption of the euro. The law, approved by the 50th National Assembly on August 7, 2024, will be published in the Official Gazette following presidential ratification.
The Bulgarian Parliament swiftly passed the euro adoption bill in its second reading, with minimal debate. While the "Renaissance" party voiced its opposition to joining the eurozone, the legislation ultimately prevailed.
The law aims to streamline Bulgaria's euro adoption process, enhance transparency, and align the country with European Union regulations. It seeks to dispel concerns about potential price increases, clarifying that such hikes would only be justified by objective economic factors, according to Focus-news.
