FSB detains Moldovan in Crimea bomb attack plot

The Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) announced that it has detained three men: one Moldovan and two Russians, suspected of planning bomb attacks in annexed Crimea and exchanging military information with Ukraine.

According to Russian authorities, the Moldovan citizen was born in 1992. He is said to have begun collaborating with the special services of the neighbouring country in April 2024 and allegedly transmitted information to Kyiv about the locations of military equipment, logistics or transport infrastructure points, and the impact of Ukrainian strikes on the region.

In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău stated that the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow has sent a note to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting information on this case.

“If it is confirmed that this involves a citizen of the Republic of Moldova, in accordance with international law, our diplomatic mission will offer him all necessary consular assistance,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău also told Teleradio Moldova.
