Harris vows continued Ukraine and NATO support if elected

Vice President Kamala Harris has promised that if she wins the presidential election on November 5, she will continue to support Ukraine and NATO.

On the final day of the Democratic National Convention, after officially accepting the party’s nomination for president, Harris discussed her foreign policy experience gained as vice president—experience she lacked before entering the White House. She also outlined the differences between her vision and that of her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump.

“I will not engage with tyrants and dictators like Kim Jong Un, who supports Trump,” Harris stated. “(...) They know that Trump will not hold autocrats accountable because he aspires to be an autocrat himself.”

In her speech, Harris defended the current administration’s policy on Ukraine and NATO, criticising former President Trump’s previous remarks about the war initiated by Russia against Ukraine.

Harris revealed that just five days before the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian war, she warned President Volodymyr Zelensky of Moscow’s intentions to invade Ukraine.

“Five days before Russia attacked Ukraine, I met with President Zelensky to inform him of Russia’s invasion plan. I helped mobilise a global response from 50 countries in reaction to Putin’s threat,” Harris added.
