EU certified Vestmoldtransgaz, boosting Moldova's energy market
Today, Vestmoldtransgaz has been awarded definitive certification in accordance with European Union requirements.
This decision signifies the successful completion of a complex process through which the Republic of Moldova aligns with European standards for the internal natural gas market, according to the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE). Energy expert Sergiu Ungureanu notes that this development strengthens the country's energy security.
The certification opens new opportunities for cross-border trade in energy products, which is expected to lead to more competitive prices and support sustainable development within the country's energy sector.
Sergiu Ungureanu considers this development significant for Moldova. He explained, “This certification is a novelty for the Republic of Moldova; however, it enables the company to participate in gas transport and purchase tenders in line with European standards. MoldovaGaz also held this accreditation. As a result, we will see increased competition with two companies operating in this sector, which will enhance the stability and security of the gas system.”
Ungureanu further predicts that, although increased market competition could lead to a slight decrease in natural gas prices, the impact is expected to be minimal.
