Moldova rejects Russian propaganda about biological material export
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) in Chișinău has issued a warning today regarding a false and misleading message circulating on Russian online platforms.
The message alleges that the Republic of Moldova is involved in a supposed mass export scheme for biological material. The MAE has rejected these accusations, asserting that they are baseless and intended to discredit both the Moldovan authorities and the country’s European trajectory.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the false message was deliberately released on Independence Day to overshadow the celebration and sow discord.
The MAE further states that the information is pure fiction. The message, attributed to the Russian Ministry of Defense and disseminated by several Russian websites, is part of a pattern of misinformation where Russian propaganda seeks to advance the notion that Ukraine might use biological substances in the future. The new twist is the claim that Moldova is also purportedly involved in this process logistically.
The MAE emphasises that the Republic of Moldova adheres to all international norms against the proliferation of biological weapons.
In light of this, the authorities advise citizens to rely solely on trustworthy sources for information.
