Moldovan wine exports surge 20% with U.S. as top market
Wine exports have increased by nearly 20 percent during the first seven months of this year compared to the same period in 2023, reaching almost 83 million litres.
According to the National Office of Vine and Wine, Moldova's wine sales have amounted to nearly $130 million, reflecting a 22 percent increase. The United States has emerged as the primary market for Moldovan wine.
"In the United States, several large companies have successfully gained market access, leading to a rise in exports. This growth, which began last year, has accelerated with a 22 percent increase over the past seven months compared to the previous year, restoring Moldova's position as a leading exporter," stated Ștefan Iamandi, Director of the National Office of Vine and Wine.
The National Office of Vine and Wine reports that Moldovan wine is currently exported to 63 markets by over 120 active exporters. On average, 70 percent of the wine produced in Moldova is exported.
