Minister of Justice: "Lawyers play a crucial role in promoting the rule of law"
The Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, emphasized the importance of lawyers in promoting the rule of law and access to justice, during the International Conference of the Union of Lawyers from the Republic of Moldova. Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said that, for the current Government, the fulfillment of the commitments made towards citizens and European partners is a priority. In this context, the minister encouraged lawyers to strengthen cooperation of professions.
“Every citizen wants access to effective legal aid and skilled legal defense, which are found in your core mission. With mutual responsibility, we can advance towards effective justice, genuine democracy and a European path", declared Veronica Mihailov-Moraru.
She said that the government would continue to implement measures set out in the National Action Plan for Moldova's accession to EU for 2024-2027, including adjusting the legal framework to transpose European directives on legal assistance and job of lawyer.
During the conference, Stanislav Copețchi, secretary of state at the Ministry of Justice, emphasized the role of lawyers in promoting mediation and arbitration as alternative solutions to classic litigation, priorities included in the Strategy regarding the independence and integrity of the judicial system.
The second edition of the International Conference of the Union of Lawyers from the Republic of Moldova brought together lawyers from our country, Romania, Ukraine, Germany, France, Poland and Italy.
