Romania must agree with Ukraine to shoot down Russian missiles, expert Iulian Chifu
The authorities in Bucharest must respect the national legislation in terms of shooting down Russian missiles flying near Romanian space, said the president of the Early Warning Center, Iulian Chifu, on the show "In Context" on Moldova 1 TV.
"Secondly, it is about an agreement to be concluded between the two states. Do not forget, any drone we shoot down on the territory of Ukraine or in the case of the Republic of Moldova, some debris fall, there are some remains of missiles that fall and we have to see whose responsibility it is, the eventuality in which the result of the fall of this debris comes with destruction, with secondary effects on the ground. It is a technical matter, but sufficiently complex, with an important legal component, and this is what is being negotiated now. The principle is one, the agreement of the sovereign state to shoot down missiles", said Iulian Chifu.
The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, said in Bucharest that he calls on the Romanian partners to analyze the possibility of shooting down Russian drones near Romania's airspace. According to the head of diplomacy in Kiev, the request was made in the context of numerous cases of Russian missiles or drones violating the airspace of NATO member states.
We remind you that today, September 19, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, is paying his first working visit to the Republic of Moldova at the invitation of the head of diplomacy from Chisinau, Mihai Popșoi. The two officials will meet starting at 14:00, after which they will hold a joint press conference.
