"National Wine Day" brings a record number of participants this year

Millennial traditions in winemaking, the mastery of winemakers and oenologists, as well as the country brand "Moldova Wine" will be celebrated in the first weekend of October. The 23rd edition of the National Wine Day, which strengthens the position of the Republic of Moldova among wine-producing countries, will take place in the Great National Assembly Square, but also at several wineries in the country. This year's event will be held under the slogan "Our amazingly good wine".

This year, a record number of winemakers announced their participation in the 23rd edition of the National Wine Day. Thus, 99 winemakers will present their wines, awarded at international competitions, those from the new harvest and newly launched products, said the director of the National Vine and Wine Office, Ștefan lamandi. According to him, the current edition of the celebration brings an important change in the format of the event, aimed at improving the experience of the participants. Thus, the area dedicated to gastronomy will be moved along Ștefan cel Mare and Sfânt boulevard, between Alexandr Pușkin str. and Vlaicu Pârcălab str., to offer visitors a larger and more accessible space, to be able to enjoy the wines and the traditional dishes.

"This year, for the first time, we saw in the previous year's experience many tourists, many professionals in the field who come to the wine day. They are a bit lost because we don't have a very large number of wineries and they should be guided. Because of this, we will also organize guided tours. It will also be possible, in addition to the taster's card, to additionally pay a fee for these guided tours. There will be guided tours by experts in the field who know our wineries very well, who will communicate about what and who represents us", said Ștefan Iamandi.

Moreover, domestic manufacturers are preparing special programs and say they are ready to delight visitors with quality products.

"We will be just on the market, so we are looking forward to the national, but also the international, consumers. We will have guided tastings with our sommelier, who will present the aromas, the intensity, the taste. You will be able to talk about it directly with the winemaker, ask him questions and it will certainly be a very nice experience".

"Unfortunately, we are no longer able to be on the market because of the number of tourists who come to the winery, but the gates are open, so at the winery we are waiting for guests to come, do tastings, tours, see the whole process, crushing, everything, to taste the young wine, from the beginning to the bottled wine and, of course, the traditional dishes".

National Wine Day is a unique opportunity to promote the Republic of Moldova as a top wine destination, which attracts thousands of tourists, international experts in the field, but also lovers of quality wines, emphasized the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea.

"I invited two Ministers of Agriculture from the Baltic States, I invited the Minister of Agriculture of Romania and I invited the EU Commissioner for Agriculture. I hope, together with them to open this festival on the 5th, but we all invite our friends from abroad, after which we attend, everything that means winemaking ", Vladimir Bolea pointed out.

The organizers announce that the Taster's Book will be on sale this year as well. Those who will come into possession of it will receive a recyclable glass and will have the opportunity to taste several local wines. Also, on the occasion of the celebration, at Chisinau International Airport, travelers will be greeted with bottles of wine and will be invited to participate in the event. The "National Wine Day" holiday was established by Parliament's decision in 1990 and has been celebrated annually since 2002 on the first weekend of October.
