Poll: About 46% would vote in the referendum for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU

If the referendum on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU were held next Sunday, 45.9% of the respondents would vote for amending the Constitution in this regard. Also, 37.1% said they would vote for accession, while the share of undecided people rose to 13%. These are the data of the poll carried out by the IData company, presented on Monday, September 23.

According to the poll, those who support the amendment of the Constitution are residents of the center and south of the country, and those who would say NO to the referendum come from the localities of the south of the country, mainly from Gagauzia, Cantemir, Cimișlia and from Telenești.

The poll also shows that President Maia Sandu continues to be the favorite of Moldovans. Thus, if presidential elections were held next Sunday, 26.8% of citizens would vote for Maia Sandu. This is followed by the leader of Our Party, Renato Usatîi with 12.7% and by the former general prosecutor Alexandr Stoianoglo - with 11.2%.

Also, if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, only four political formations would enter the new Legislative, but none of them would have a majority. Thus, of the decided respondents, 37.6% would vote with PAS, 17.5% - with the "Victorie" Political Bloc, 15.4% - with PSRM and 13.4% for Our Party.

Therefore, the new Parliament could be made up of 46 PAS MPs, 21 MPs from the “Victorie” Political Bloc, 18 PSRM MPs and 16 MPs from Our Party.

The iData poll was conducted between September 13-18, on a sample of 1,021 people from 293 localities. Data were collected 70 percent by phone and 30 percent online. The maximum margin of error is ± 3%. The poll is authorized by the Central Electoral Commission.
