Eleven Moldovans, evacuated from Lebanon. Mihai Popșoi: "The Republic of Moldova will never leave its citizens in danger"

Eleven citizens of the Republic of Moldova, among them mothers with children, were evacuated from Lebanon, in the context of the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. They are currently safe in Poland, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi. They will be repatriated to the Republic of Moldova tomorrow, said the official.

"The Republic of Moldova takes care of its citizens and will never leave them in danger. These citizens, 11 in number, mothers with children, are safe in Poland, and tomorrow morning they are going to come home, to the Republic of Moldova".

The head of diplomacy from Chisinau stated that the evacuation operation was facilitated by the partners from Kiev, who offered a plane for the evacuation of Ukrainians, Moldovans and other nationalities. The Minister also thanked the International Organization for Migration, which coordinated the transit process through Poland, as well as colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the efficient organization of this action.

In Lebanon, according to Minister Mihai Popșoi, there are still four citizens of the Republic of Moldova who requested help. They will be evacuated "in the next few days".

We remind you that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) started a limited ground operation in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, in the context of the conflict with the militant group Hezbollah, supported by Iran. According to an official statement released by the IDF on social media, the attacks targeted "terrorist targets and infrastructure" in border areas with Israel, based on accurate information about Hezbollah locations.

In the context of the tense situation in Lebanon, the representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the Lebanese Republic, based in Ankara, told Teleradio-Moldova that they started receiving several requests from Moldovan citizens, who live there, and asked help in their evacuation from Lebanon. In the context of the escalation of the conflict, the Ministry of Defense communicated to Teleradio-Moldova that the Moldovan peacekeepers, deployed as part of the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission, are out of danger. They carry out their activity outside the conflict zone, and the ministry maintains permanent contact with the military contingent of the National Army, which continues its mission.
