Siegfried Mureșan, re-elected president of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova

European deputy Siegfried Muresan was re-elected, today, as president of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova. He said that he would defend the interests of the Republic of Moldova and its citizens in the European Parliament, as he has done for the past 10 years. Siegfried Muresan is, today, on an official visit to Chisinau.

After the vote in the European Parliament, the deputy declared that: "The Republic of Moldova is very important for the security of the European Union, but also for Romania. We must give it the support it deserves," said Mureșan, who added that his main objective is for the European Union to help the Republic of Moldova be prepared for accession and combat security threats from the Russian Federation.

We remind you that from the position of president of the European Parliament delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova, Siegfried Mureșan will co-chair the Moldova European Union Association Parliament Committee, which includes members of the European Parliament and members of the Chisinau Parliament, headed by the deputy co-chair of the Committee Doina Gherman.

The Romanian MEP recalled that, in previous years, several important decisions for the Republic of Moldova were adopted in this Parliamentary Association Committee. Among them, the most important is the official European document that requests the granting of candidate country status to the Republic of Moldova for accession to the European Union.

Siegried Mureșan said that, as the chief negotiator of the European Parliament for the future multiannual budget of the European Union, he will make every effort to allocate the necessary financial resources to support the efforts of the Republic of Moldova on its way to integration into the European Union.
