The Ministry of the Environment has announced its priorities for 2023
More forested land, cleaning the country's rivers and liquidating unauthorized dumps are the priorities for 2023 announced by the Ministry of the Environment. These can be found in the Government's Environmental Action Plan, a document that has been subject to public consultation. During the debates, the Minister of the Environment, Rodica Iordanov, emphasized the importance of education in the development of an environment-friendly generation.

"Adequate waste management for the year 2023 would mean the launch of activities for region no. 5 - Nisporeni, Ungheni and Călărași. But, parallel to this process, we want to initiate the procedure for the liquidation of landfills and in this context we will also make the normative framework for the respective segment and at the same time we will go on practical activities to liquidate those landfills that are unauthorized, which are too many in the Republic of Moldova" , the minister mentioned.
In the first months of the year, the Ministry of the Environment aims to promote three national programs: the Waste Management Program, the Forest Expansion and Rehabilitation Program and the Climate Change Adaptation Plan. Also, in order to improve the situation of the forest fund, a new Forestry Code will be developed. Also this year, the reform process of the subordinate institutions will be completed: the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, the Environment Agency, the "Apele Moldovei" Agency, the State Hydrometeorological Service, the Geology and Mineral Resources Agency, the "Moldsilva" Agency.
