Chisinau: Tiraspol is trying to hinder the October 20 electoral process

The Reintegration Policy Bureau (BPR) reacted to the statements of the so-called Foreign Minister from Tiraspol regarding the organization of the October 20 referendum. According to the cited source, all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, regardless of the region in which they live, are expected to participate in both the presidential election and the referendum.

"For our fellow citizens from the eastern districts, 30 polling stations located in the Security Zone, in localities under the effective control of the constitutional authorities, will be opened. The opening of some polling stations in the uncontrolled perimeter, where there is no guarantee regarding the safety of the process, no certainty that there will be no external interference that can prejudice the result, is contrary to the legal norms", reads the statement.

The representatives of the Political Bureau of Reintegration state that, in recent weeks, Tiraspol has imposed additional restrictions on the access of representatives of political parties, journalists and people of culture from the right of the Nistru, to limit their interaction with the citizens of the Transnistrian region: "The illegal force structures of Tiraspol thoroughly checks all the means of transport heading towards the municipality of Bender and the left bank of the Nistru to prevent the dissemination of electoral materials or advertising related to the October 20 referendum".

Moreover, Tiraspol did not even accept the request of the BPR to allow the representatives of the electoral commissions with mobile ballot boxes in the Eastern districts on the day of the referendum.

"The comment of the so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Tiraspol can only be interpreted as a manipulative action, made, most likely, at the behest of external forces. In this context, the Moldovan authorities once again ask Tiraspol to refrain from any obstruction of the vote and the referendum on October 20, as well as from any attempt to get involved - directly or indirectly - in the electoral process", concluded the authorities in Chisinau.
