Illegal funding of parties // CNA raided an office of a political faction in Balti
Searches were performed in the north of the country in a case of electoral corruption and illegal financing of political parties. According to the National Anticorruption Center (CNA), the actions targeted the office in Balti municipality of a political faction, as well as the homes of individuals affiliated to that faction.
According to the data presented, the persons concerned have been documented in the process of corrupting voters for the referendum and the electoral vote that will take place on October 20, 2024.
More precisely, they would have drawn up lists of interested persons and would have transmitted personal data to third parties and financial institutions abroad for the latter to get illegal remuneration for voting.
As a result of the searches in the homes and offices of the faction, mobile phones, cash and draft documents were seized.
We remind you that on Friday, October 11, 18 public officials from Orhei, including the mayor, deputy mayor, chief architect, investigative agents and several district councillors were searched in a criminal case regarding passive corruption and illegal management of electoral funds.
Among them, three accused were placed under house arrest for 30 days, and the fourth - under preventive detention for 30 days in the penitentiary no. 13.
On October 7, law enforcement officers conducted searches in Jora de Jos village, Orhei district. Following the raids, one million lei was collected, and one person was detained.
