Situation in the Republic of Moldova before the referendum and the presidential elections, on the agenda of the European Council meeting
The situation in the Republic of Moldova, as well as support for accession to the European Union, especially for supporting internal reforms and for strengthening resilience and stability will be addressed during the European Council meeting, which will take place on October 17-18, in Brussels. These topics were included on the agenda of the meeting, at Romania's proposal, informs the Presidential Administration from Bucharest.
In the perspective of the upcoming elections and the referendum on the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, the issue of Russian interference in the electoral process will also be discussed.
The agenda of the European Council meeting includes topics such as Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, EU competitiveness, migration, foreign affairs and the Republic of Moldova.
Regarding Ukraine, European leaders will discuss the latest developments in Russia's war of aggression, as well as multidimensional support for Ukraine and its people.
Migration is another important topic on the agenda of European leaders, who will consider the implementation of the comprehensive approach to migration agreed at the extraordinary meeting of the European Council in February 2023.
