Over 1,300 Moldovans have already voted by mail in the presidential elections and referendum
Over 1,300 citizens of the Republic of Moldova have already voted in the presidential elections and the referendum for European integration, which will take place on Sunday, October 20. It is about those who chose to vote by mail. The president of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Angelica Caraman announced this during a briefing.
"The process of receiving the envelopes by mail for the presidential elections and the referendum ended yesterday at 18.00, but we have to take into account the same time in the host country. The other envelopes received over this limit will be declared invalid. A total of 1,344 envelopes were received from voters who chose to vote by mail out of the 1,808 envelopes sent to voters," Caraman said today.
We remind you that in the elections for the position of President of the Republic of Moldova and the republican constitutional referendum, voting by mail was implemented for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova located on the territory of the United States of America, Canada, the Kingdom of Norway, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Iceland.
For these elections, the Central Electoral Commission printed more than 7.3 million ballot papers, of which about 1.7 million ballot papers were for voters from abroad. On October 20, the Republic of Moldova will hold presidential elections and the republican constitutional referendum, in which citizens will answer the question: "Do you support the amendment of the Constitution with a view to the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union?".
