Where and how the Moldovan citizens from the diaspora vote in the presidential elections and referendum?

Do you want to vote in the presidential elections and constitutional referendum on October 20, 2024, but you are not sure how the process works in the diaspora? Here is a simple and clear guide on how you can vote if you are outside the Republic of Moldova.

How will Moldovan citizens from the diaspora vote?

Citizens with the right to vote can vote in any polling station established abroad. These were established by the CEC based on data on pre-registration and previous participation in elections. Polling stations will be opened in localities with a significant number of Moldovan citizens, i.e. where there are at least 500 voters. To vote, citizens must present one of the following identity documents:

Identity card of the Republic of Moldova; Provisional identity card (with mention of Moldovan citizenship); Passport of the Republic of Moldova (including expired).

What do diaspora citizens need to know?

Citizens can vote at any section established abroad, without the need to register in a specific polling station. The sections will be open throughout the day of October 20, from 07:00 to 21:00.
