Israeli attack on Beit Lahia results in 73 casualties

At least 73 people were killed in an Israeli attack on the city of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip. Dozens of others are injured, and many remain trapped under the rubble following the bombing on Saturday night, reports the BBC.

Israel stated that it is verifying reports concerning the victims but cautioned that the figures released by Hamas authorities are “exaggerated” and do not align with the information held by its military.

The latest strikes occurred just a few hours after “heavy gunfire” was reported from Israeli troops at the Indonesian hospital in the city.

It is noted that Israel launched a renewed military offensive in northern Gaza at the beginning of October, asserting its aim to prevent Hamas from regrouping in the area.

Specifically, Israeli forces surrounded and bombarded the densely populated Jabalia area, which includes an urban refugee camp; at least 33 people were killed in a strike on Friday night.
