VOX// Moldova votes: Citizens seek change in presidential election
Citizens have begun to choose their president and express their votes in the referendum on the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
People arrived at the polls early this morning, coinciding with the opening of the polling stations, to exercise their constitutional right. They emphasise that it is an important day, and they intend to vote for a better future for both the country and their children.
“For a better life, for grandchildren, for children.”
“For change, for change in our country.”
“To bring a better future home, opening new possibilities for the youth. If something changes, I would like to stay home with all my heart. I would like to leave, but not permanently. If there are no changes, I believe I will leave forever.”
“We expect significant changes. I have five children, all of whom are in Italy. I want them to come home, as I have been left without children,” said the voters.
Today, October 20, citizens eligible to vote are called to the polls to select their future president and participate in the constitutional referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union. In the race for the presidency, 11 candidates are registered.
