Ukrainian forces strike military airfield and factory in Russia

Ukrainian forces have attacked the infrastructure of a military airfield in the Lipetsk region of Russia and an explosives factory in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated on Sunday, as reported by UNIAN.

The Ukrainian General Staff added that it is still assessing the extent of the damages caused.

"In particular, ammunition depots, fuel and lubricant storage areas, and aviation equipment were attacked. The Su-34, Su-35, and MiG-31 aircraft of the enemy aerospace forces are based at the airfield," reported the General Staff.

Additionally, the General Staff confirmed the attack on the Sverdlov plant in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation. This facility produces chemicals for artillery ammunition and bombs.

The explosives factory, one of the largest of its kind used by Russian forces in the war launched by Moscow against Ukraine in February 2022, is subject to sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union.

"According to the information available, guided aerial bombs were stored at the plant," specified the General Staff.
