The fire at tank no. 2 in the Giurgiulesti Free International Port has been located
Firefighters from the south of the country managed, this night, to locate the fire at tank no. 2 loaded with sunflower meal, announces the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).
"The location occurred at 1:49 a.m. on January 22, after the large-capacity metal structure collapsed under control at 01:29 a.m.," the IGSU statement said.
As a result of the specialists' damage to the element at the bottom of the tank, the construction collapsed, and the firefighters managed to reach the source and put out the open flames.
Radio Moldova reminds its audience that the fire broke out on January 20.
Currently, the firemen are acting for the total liquidation of the fire and are carrying out fire protection at the objective. "For locating and extinguishing the fire in the Giurgiulesti Free International Port, 13 employees with 5 emergency vehicles are working. The mission of the IGSU employees will continue until all risks to the infrastructure in the area are removed," announces the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
