Romania and Moldova enhance border control
Romania and the Republic of Moldova will establish joint control at the Galați-Giurgiulești border crossing.
To this end, authorities from across the Prut River have approved the negotiation and signing of an agreement with the government in Chișinău to implement coordinated entry control into Romania.
This initiative aims to improve border traffic flow. The agreement outlines a set of measures for the operation of the Reni-Giurgiulești-Galați green corridor, which will include controls similar to those at the Albița crossing.
Border police officers from both countries will conduct successive checks without interconnecting their databases.
This type of control is already in place at Albița, where a pilot project launched on April 15, 2023.
