Presidential candidates to face off in live debate on Moldova 1

Teleradio Moldova has announced that it will host an electoral debate for the second round of voting on Monday, October 28, inviting candidates Maia Sandu and Alexandr Stoianoglo to participate.

In this regard, the company has provided the candidates with the regulations and concept for the program.

The debate will be held and broadcast live on Moldova 1 and Radio Moldova, starting at 19:00.

According to a press release from Teleradio Moldova, the electoral debate program will comply with the legal provisions and regulations set forth by the Central Electoral Commission.

Each candidate will have 45 minutes to address the voters, respond to questions from the moderator and journalists in the studio, and participate in open discussions and question-and-answer sessions with their opponent.

Teleradio Moldova states that it has invited prominent journalists from other media outlets in the Republic of Moldova, along with representatives from relevant civil society organisations.

The program’s concept outlines that the main topics for discussion in the debates will include:

The electoral candidates must arrive at the headquarters of Moldova 1 TV station at least 20 minutes prior to the broadcast. Delays in attending the debates will not be accepted; a delay is defined as the invited candidate not being present by the scheduled start time.

Additionally, the refusal to participate or the absence of an electoral candidate or their representatives at the debates will be made public and does not constitute grounds for cancelling or suspending the debates. In the event of a candidate's absence from the debates, the time allocated to them will not be recovered or redistributed to the candidate who is present.

Furthermore, Teleradio Moldova emphasises that Moldova 1 will air a synthesis and analysis program evaluating the candidates' performance and statements during the electoral debates, immediately following their conclusion.

TRM specifies that the public broadcasters Moldova 1 and Radio Moldova will air the electoral debates scheduled for Sunday at 10:00 live, followed by special editions featuring experts in the respective studios.
