Former head of the CFM, Iurie Topală, remains in preventive detention
The former head of Calea Ferată din Moldova (CFM), Iurie Topală, previously extradited from Belgium, remains in preventive detention for another 30 days.

The decision was ruled by the magistrates of the Chisinau Court based in Ciocana. According to the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, the criminal investigation continues, in order to speed up the sending of the file to court. We remind you that Iurie Topală was previously extradited from Belgium and was placed in preventive detention for 30 days at the beginning of November. His lawyers contested the arrest warrant at the Court of Appeal, but it was rejected. Iurie Topală is accused of having damaged the Moldovan Railway with 250 million lei between 2015 and 2019, during which he held the position of head of the company. Iurie Topală rejects the accusations and declares himself innocent.
