Termoelectrica appoints new director after scandal

Iurie Razlovan has been appointed as the director of the Moldovan Joint Stock Company "Termoelectrica." The decision was approved by the Company's Council following a competition in which six individuals participated.

"In accordance with the provisions of the Regulation regarding the organisation and execution of the competition for the vacant position of general director of S.A. 'Termoelectrica,' approved by the decision of the Company's Council, Mr. Iurie Razlovan is declared the winner of the competition for the position of general director," the institution announced.

Mr. Razlovan was appointed interim director of Termoelectrica at the end of July 2023 by the Minister of Energy, Victor Parlicov, after Vasile Leu submitted his resignation. This followed the release of images to the public, which appeared to show that low-quality fuel oil had been buried at Termoelectrica. Subsequently, Prime Minister Dorin Recean requested the resignation of the company's management.

It is worth noting that Mr. Razlovan held the position of technical director at Termoelectrica between 2014 and 2018 and assistant technical director at Termocom between 2008 and 2011.
