Drone attack targets Chechen Special Forces University
Chechnya has been targeted by a drone attack for the first time. On the morning of October 29th, a drone struck the roof of the Special Forces University in Gudermes, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov announced on Telegram.
The roof of an unoccupied building caught fire as a result of the attack, but the fire was quickly extinguished with no casualties. Kadyrov emphasised that the university's activities are continuing as normal, and authorities have launched an investigation.
Photographs published by Telegram channels, including Baza, show two fire outbreaks on the main building of the university, which trains Russian soldiers for the front lines in Ukraine. According to the UK Ministry of Defence, over 42,000 military personnel have been trained there since the war began, but the effectiveness of the training, limited to a few days, has been questioned.
In late August, it was reported that Vladimir Putin visited the special forces university in Gudermes during his trip to the Caucasus.
