Radio Moldova: Uniting communities on National Radio Day

Răzvan Ioan Dincă, the General Director of the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Society (SRR), issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of National Radio Day, celebrated today in the Republic of Moldova.

He emphasised that radio serves as “an invisible thread that brings us closer, uniting us across time and space.”

“Allow me to extend my warmest wishes to you on this celebratory occasion. The National Day of Romanian-language Radio carries even greater significance as we celebrate it on both sides of the Prut River. We are the bearers of an invaluable tradition and an unwavering commitment to our listeners. Radio is much more than merely a communication channel – it proves daily to be an invisible thread that connects us, transcending time and space. May this celebration inspire us to continue serving the public with passion and dedication! From Radio Romania, with a tradition spanning 96 years, we convey our best thoughts! May this date, November 1st, become a long-standing and cherished tradition in the Republic of Moldova, where we can celebrate together the values of public radio,” stated Răzvan Ioan Dincă in his message.

It is noteworthy that November 1st marks National Radio Day, which acknowledges the contribution of Public Radio to the promotion of culture and national identity. For 96 years, Radio Moldova has been a fixture in our homes, providing breaking news, educational and entertaining programs, notable guests, and quality music.

Historically, the year 1930 was regarded as the founding year of national radio, coinciding with the establishment of a Soviet station in Tiraspol. In reality, the first radio transmission on the territory of present-day Moldova occurred on November 1, 1928, via the signal from Radio Bucharest, followed by the establishment of Radio Bessarabia in Chișinău, which served as the precursor to Radio Moldova.
