Moldova enforces 'day of silence' before presidential election
Today, November 2, marks the day of silence ahead of the second round of the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova, which will take place on Sunday, November 3.
As per the Electoral Code, electoral campaigning is strictly prohibited today and tomorrow. November 1 was the final day on which campaigning activities were permitted for this election.
Under the provisions of the Electoral Code, campaigning is strictly prohibited on the day of the election and the preceding day. During this time, candidates are also barred from appearing on television or radio broadcasts. Additionally, local public authorities and advertisers are required to remove all electoral advertising materials.
Please note that this prohibition does not apply to information already available on the internet.
Under the Contravention Code, continued campaigning by the media, electoral competitors, or citizens on these specified days constitutes an administrative offence and may result in fines ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 lei for individuals or from 5,000 to 7,600 lei for legal entities.
