Police raid uncovers voter manipulation scheme

Moldovan police and prosecutors have conducted new raids in Chișinău, the capital city, and in Rîșcani. These raids are part of ongoing criminal investigations into illegal campaign financing and voter manipulation.

According to police, the investigation has revealed that sympathisers and members of the "Șor" criminal organisation and the "Victoria Political Bloc" are bribing citizens to vote against a candidate in the presidential election.

During the raids, law enforcement seized a substantial quantity of materials, including: thousands of newspapers bearing the "Renaștere" ("Rebirth") and "Șor" logos; mobile phones with the "псб" application installed; employment contracts with the Russian Federation entity "Евразия"; lists and notebooks containing personal data, including phone numbers; lists of car registration numbers; copies of ID cards belonging to individuals allegedly paid to participate in the scheme; various documents and drafts; lists of participants; articles with symbols associated with the criminal organisation; bank cards; SIM cards; and significant sums of money. This evidence will be thoroughly analysed by investigators.

The criminal investigation remains active as authorities work to establish a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances and gather all relevant evidence.

Individuals who cooperate with law enforcement in this matter will be granted immunity from prosecution, in accordance with the law.
