First polling stations in the diaspora have closed. Cases of vote-buying - recorded and documented in the Republic of Moldova
The polling stations open to Moldovans in Japan and China have closed, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) announced in the press conference at 16:00. In all, 127 Moldovan citizens voted in the two countries. Meanwhile, the first polling stations in the United States of America opened "without impediments". The electoral authority announces that the diaspora is voting massively in this election as well. Thus, by 4:00 p.m., over 200 thousand Moldovans abroad voted.
"The electoral process is ongoing, voting continues in all polling stations in the country and abroad. We all follow the photo and video images shared on social networks with Moldovans abroad. We are happy about this mobilization of Moldovans, considering that some of them travel long distances", said the president of the CEC, Angelica Caraman.
The CEC informed that it printed and sent 5 thousand ballot papers to polling stations abroad. In some constituencies, the flow of voters is still high. The electoral authority urged Moldovans to go to the nearest polling station to vote.
According to the MFA, by 3:47 p.m., 200,000 Moldovans from the diaspora voted.
