Tougher security measures in Spain after the discovery of envelopes with explosive material
Spain has ordered additional security measures in public buildings after the discovery, in the last week, of four envelopes with explosive material. One of the envelopes, which was addressed to the ambassador of Ukraine in Madrid, exploded, injuring an embassy employee.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on all its embassies to tighten security measures. Another explosive letter was sent to a military base outside Madrid, and a third to a factory in the city of Zaragoza, but neither exploded. Meanwhile, Spanish police revealed that another letter was addressed last week to the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, but was intercepted before it was detonated, the BBC writes.
