Man from Comrat, sentenced to 5 years in prison for an accident resulting in the death of a minor
A 25-year-old man from Comrat was sentenced to prison for a term of 5 years and 4 months with execution. According to the Gagauzia Prosecutor's Office, a man, being drunk, drove the wrong way and hit another car head-on.
A 12-year-old girl died, and the driver and passengers of the damaged car suffered moderate and serious injuries. The tragedy occurred in the summer of 2023 in Comrat.
The court also ordered the collection from the defendant's account of over 2.2 million lei in material and moral damages caused to the victims.
The defendant is not on his first criminal offense. He was previously sentenced to unpaid community service for hooliganism.
