The Republic of Moldova finalized bilateral screening on chapters of Cluster 1 Fundamental values
The Republic of Moldova has completed the bilateral screening on chapters of Cluster 1, titled "Fundamental Values." The final session took place in Luxembourg from November 13 to 14 and focused on Chapter 18, which covers "Statistics."
During this session, officials from various public institutions, along with the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, presented the current state of the statistical field in Moldova and outlined future plans to establish a reliable national statistical system to the experts from the European Commission.
Cluster 1 also encompasses chapters related to justice, fundamental rights, public procurement, and financial control. With the completion of the bilateral screening phase for this cluster, evaluation reports will now be prepared.
Following the preparation of these reports, the next step will be to initiate negotiations for Cluster 1.
We remind you that the European Commission's recent enlargement report indicated that the screening process aimed at reviewing Moldova's legislation in relation to the Community acquis is progressing smoothly. The European Commission expressed its eagerness to begin negotiations on the clusters, starting with the fundamental values, as soon as possible in 2025.
