Local elections in Moldova: Over 25,000 voters to decide mayors
Today, eligible voters from seven localities across the country are electing their mayors. More than 25,000 voters are expected to participate. The 15 polling stations will remain open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Local elections are being held in Căușeni city, Căușeni district; Iliciovca commune, Florești district; Boșcana commune, Criuleni district; Arionești village, Dondușeni district; Antonești commune, Cantemir district; Clocușna village, Ocnița district; and Popeștii de Jos village, Drochia district.
Thirty-eight candidates have registered for the mayoral positions, including 28 nominated by political parties and 10 running independently.
For these elections, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) printed 25,242 ballots: 20,195 in Romanian and 5,047 in Russian.
The elections will be overseen by 25 national observers accredited by the CEC.
Voters unable to visit the polling station due to health issues or other valid reasons may request to vote via a mobile ballot box. On election day, these requests must be approved by the electoral office by 2:00 PM and require the presentation of a medical certificate.
