LIVE // Government convenes a meeting

The Cabinet of Ministers will hold a new session on Wednesday, November 27. The agenda consists of 26 projects, including a draft law to initiate negotiations and approve the signing of a Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.

Additionally, the Cabinet will review and approve a Loan Agreement between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the project aimed at optimizing the centralized thermal energy supply system in Chișinău.

The Government also plans to allocate over 12.8 million lei from the Executive Intervention Fund to address the consequences of the heavy rains that occurred in June and July. The ministers will further examine a draft law that proposes the opening of international road traffic at the Costești-Stânca Hydrotechnical Node dam on the Prut River.

Moreover, during today’s meeting, the Government will consider a series of amendments and additions designed to enhance the mechanism for recovering assets related to criminal activity.

The Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, has warned that the country is bracing for a “very difficult” winter. The main challenges that could lead to a significant crisis include the potential interruption of natural gas supplies to the Transnistrian region and the request from Moldovagaz to increase tariffs by more than four lei. At the start of the Cabinet of Ministers' meeting, the Prime Minister assured that, despite these difficulties, the government will work to find solutions to manage the situation.
