LIVE TEXT // Constitutional Court validates new term of office of President Maia Sandu
The Constitutional Court (CC) confirmed the results of the presidential elections of November 3 and validated the new term of office of Maia Sandu. The decision was ruled by the President of the CC, Domnica Manole, after more than an hour of deliberations. The decision is final and cannot be challenged.
Constitutional Court magistrates examine the socialists' approach regarding PSRM representation
The Constitutional Court magistrates met in session to validate the new mandate of President Maia Sandu. Only invited persons will have access to the room, and the session will be broadcast online. In front of the High Court, the Socialist Party (PSRM) announced that it would organize a protest involving its supporters.
The Constitutional Court judges analyze the request of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM). According to the President of the Court, Domnica Manole, three proxies signed by the leader of the socialists, Igor Dodon, were registered in the institution's procedure.
The documents state that the interests of the PSRM will be represented by deputies Grigore Novac, Radu Mudreac and Nicolae Fomov.
The judges are yet to decide on this request.
The Constitutional Court examines the validation of Maia Sandu's mandate in the absence of Alexandr Stoianoglo
The Plenum of the Constitutional Court decided to examine the Central Electoral Commission's notification regarding the validation of the mandate of President of the Republic of Moldova in the absence of Alexandr Stoianoglo, Maia Sandu's opponent in the presidential elections.
"The plenary Court decides, taking into account the fact that all methods and modalities of notifying Mr. Stoianoglo have been exhausted, we also have confirmation of these notifications sent to him. The judges of the Court consider that the Constitutional Court has fully exercised its obligations to notify him, therefore, we consider it possible to examine today's notification in the absence of Mr. Stoianoglo", declared the President of the Constitutional Court, Domnica Manole.
During the hearing, Maia Sandu is represented by her lawyer, Eduard Digore.
PSRM representatives wrote on social networks that they oppose decisions that undermine the interests of citizens and democracy in the country. Also, PSRM deputy Vlad Batrîncea stated in a press conference that members of his faction will boycott the Parliament session and will go to the Constitutional Court where they will demand a recount of the votes.
We remind you that, following the second round of the presidential elections, Maia Sandu won against former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, supported by the socialists. Maia Sandu will take the oath and begin her mandate after the official validation of the results by the Constitutional Court.
