December 1 – National Day of Romania. Military staff from the Republic of Moldova will march in the parade in Bucharest

Romanians everywhere celebrate the National Day of Romania on December 1. This date, established by a law promulgated in 1990, marks an important moment in the country’s history, the one in which the Great Assembly of Alba Iulia voted to unite Transylvania with Romania in 1918. On this occasion, various events will take place in Bucharest and throughout the country.

The main event of December 1 is the National Military Parade, which will take place, starting at 10:00, in Triumph Arch Square and will also be attended by President Klaus Iohannis.

About 2,500 military staff and specialists from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Romanian Customs Authority, the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Special Telecommunications Service and the National Penitentiary Administration, with approximately 190 pieces of technical equipment and 45 aircraft, are participating in the National Military Parade, organized on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of the Great Union.

Along with the Romanian military staff, 240 foreign military staff will also march in the parade, including those from the Republic of Moldova, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Spain, the United States of America and other countries. The foreign military staff are present with 21 pieces of technical equipment.

The Ministry of National Defense is also organizing an exhibition of military equipment at the Triumph Arch, and during the evening, the soldiers of the Guard and Protocol Regiment will perform a torchlight retreat along the route of the National Military Circle Palace - Calea Victoriei - Palace of Parliament - Cotroceni Palace - headquarters of the 30th Guards Brigade "Mihai Viteazul".

On Romania's National Day, there are "Open Gates" at the National Museum of Art of Romania, and at the National Museum of History of Romania, the micro-exhibition "Documents of the Union", dedicated to the historical moment of December 1, 1918, is organized.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu will participate, this year, in the festivities organized in Buzău on National Day.

Events dedicated to December 1 are taking place in Cluj-Napoca, Ploiești, Râmnicu Vâlcea, and Iași.

The temporary exhibition "Roots and Symbols. The Art of the Romanian Tradition" will take place in Alba Iulia, on Sunday. At 2:00 PM, the military parade dedicated to the National Day of Romania is scheduled.

In the evening, the extraordinary folk show "Alba Unites Romania" is scheduled, performed by artists from all the historical areas of the country, and will end in a fireworks show.

We remind you that this year, the moment has a special significance because it coincides with the parliamentary elections. Thus, in addition to the parades and ceremonies organized throughout the country, citizens will go to the polls to decide on the future Parliament.
