Maia Sandu on Romania’s National Day: “The Republic of Moldova and Romania, united under the flag of the European Union, will be stronger”

On the National Day of Romania, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, sent a message of solidarity and admiration for the people from Romania. She noted that in these times “that test democracy and values,” it is important to support each other and to demonstrate that “together we are stronger.”

“December 1 is a day full of meaning for all those who love Romania,” said the President of the Republic of Moldova. We, those of the Republic of Moldova, love Romania: because we have the same roots, the same language, the same belief in a better future.

We are living in times that test democracy and our common values. Romania and the Republic of Moldova are each going through difficult times. But each trial is also an opportunity to support each other and to demonstrate that, together, we are stronger,” said Maia Sandu.

The President concluded the message by reaffirming the common aspiration of the Republic of Moldova and Romania to consolidate the European path.

“Today, more than ever, the Republic of Moldova needs a strong Romania. A strong Romania is a European Romania. Moldova and Romania, united under the flag of the European Union, will be stronger together,” said the President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu.

We remind you that Romanians everywhere celebrate today, December 1, the National Day of Romania. This date, established by a law promulgated in 1990, marks an important moment in the country’s history, the one in which the Great Assembly of Alba Iulia voted to unite Transylvania with Romania in 1918.
