Nicu Popescu in Madrid: "We discussed the European future of our country and regional security"

The consolidation of the bilateral Moldovan-Spanish cooperation agenda, the implementation of reforms in the Republic of Moldova in the process of European integration and the regional situation in the context of the unjust war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine were some of the topics to be discussed in Madrid by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu , and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain José Manuel Albares Bueno. This was announced by the head of diplomacy from the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu in a press conference.

"This visit is important both bilaterally and in the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova. We discussed the European future of our country, but also regional security. We also referred to the priorities of the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which Spain will hold in the second part of the current year. I reported to my Spanish counterpart about the progress of the Republic of Moldova in the context of meeting the conditions imposed by the European Commission in order to be able to launch accession negotiations. We also discussed the implementation of reforms in the field of justice, the fight against corruption, in order to be able to reach European standards in the field of economy, in the democratization of society", declared Nicu Popescu.

Nicu Popescu also had a meeting with the representatives of the Moldovan diaspora in Spain.
