Der Spiegel: Germany sends Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and allows re -export from other countries
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has decided to send Ukraine Leopard 2 tanks and allow other countries, such as Poland, reexport to Kyiv of these tanks produced in Germany, announces on Tuesday the magazine Der Spiegel.
A Berlin Government spokesman refused to comment on the information, and the Ministry of Defense was not available immediately for confirmation. The decision refers to a minimum of a Leopard 2 A6 tank company from the stocks of the German army, says the quoted publication, adding that other Allied countries, for example Scandinavian, intends to proceed similar to Germany. In the long term, it could be brought back to the working condition and other tanks, the magazine shows. Previously, the Kremlin said the possible deliveries of German tanks "are not good for future relations" between Russia and Germany. In all, in the European countries there are about two thousand "leopard" tanks. Most of them are in Poland, Turkey, Greece, Spain and Finland.
