Good news for Moldovans: General Consulate of the Republic of Moldova will be opened in Chicago in 2025
The Republic of Moldova plans to open a consulate general in Chicago in the first half of 2025. This was announced by Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi following a meeting with US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, John Bass, in Washington. According to Popșoi, this decision was made in response to numerous requests from Moldovan citizens.
The Consulate will assist Moldovans living in the United States by providing access to consular services and strengthening their connection with the Moldovan community in the region.
“I thanked Undersecretary John Bass for the US approval of our request submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This approval allows us to expand the consular presence of the Republic of Moldova in the US,” said Mihai Popșoi.
During his visit to Washington, the Foreign Minister also discussed ways to strengthen the Strategic Dialogue with the United States. They agreed to initiate a new phase in bilateral relations, focusing on the development of a Strategic Partnership that emphasizes security, energy resilience, and economic development.
